Island Scene
3D Design & Rendering - 2013
This was a project I worked on during my senior year of high school. The task was to create a large, 3D model of your choice and then to render an image of the model with various lighting and textures thrown in.
How It Was Made
This rendering and 3D model were made in Blender, an open-source 3D program. The island itself was created using sculpt tools to design the terrain. The various other objects, such as the palm trees and houses, were designed separately and inserted into the scene. The water was created by using a plane and using a feature to give the plane some choppiness that you see as the waves.
Inspiration
The inspiration for this island comes from the 1993 video game, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. In the game, the hero Link washes up on a bizarre island called Koholint. This island houses a great mountain with a giant egg atop its peak.
